Project 2: Multi Family Housing
In this project I was assigned to design the site layout and the building design for
two properties on Belt Drive East, Central Islip, NY. This project invovled designing a two-family residence and an apartment. I was assigned to design the two family residence, the design requirements were as follows
1. each site is to have a mixture of two-family dwellings (2,300 SF per
dwelling, includes circulation) and two apartment buildings - each with 10 apartments at
1,200 SF each (add 15% for circulation).
2. The two-family units may be one of the following housing types for this category: duplex,
twin-home, townhouse/row house
3. Teams of two students will design the site plan for the two apartment buildings per each
of the two lots and one type of two-family unit built multiple times per lot to meet the Town
of Islip Zoning Code.
4. Teams of three students, if any, will design the site plan for the two apartment buildings
per each of the two lots and two different types of two-family unit built multiple times per
lot to meet the Town of Islip Zoning Code.
5. Site layout including parking and landscaping in accordance with the Town of Islip
Subdivision and Land Development Regulations.
6. Your site plans and building designs are not permitted to be the same or similar to the
existing development layout used in the current site development for these locations.
Here is my solution.
