Project 1: Multi Generational Single Family Residence
In this project I was assigned to design a multi-generational single-family residence project that is modern, accessible, energy-efficient, and resilient. The project was set on two properties – #1
(0.28 acres) and #5 (0.516 acres) Concourse W, Brightwaters – and both properties will be
combined into one lot (0.796 acres). The residence must include rooms for A grandparent, plus a family of five – parents and four children ages 8(f),13(m), 18(m), and 23 (f). The 23-year-old daughter is an entrepreneur artist and needs an apartment and workshop. Also must be Accessible: The grandparent uses a wheelchair. All areas of the home are to be accessible. According to NYS Res Code R320 and NYS Building Code Ch 11., Energy Efficient: Your clients are seeking a residence that meets Energy Star
requirements for energy efficiency at a minimum., and Resilient: Your clients are concerned about rising water levels and hurricanes, and they are seeking a residence that will withstand these forces. This is my Solution.
